Mumbai has been ranked eighth globally in Knight Frank’s Prime Global Cities Index, with a 6.2 per cent rise in real estate prices in the second quarter of 2026.

Globally, real estate prices rose 2.6 per cent, and thus the price increase in Mumbai was more than double the global average, real estate consultancy Knight Frank said.

The Prime Global Cities Index tracks the movement of prime residential prices across 46 cities globally. Tokyo led the rankings with a 50.7 per cent rise in prices, followed by Manila and Dubai, which saw 14.6 per cent and 10.9 per cent growth,th respectively.

Among other Indian cities

Bengaluru was ranked 12th globally with 4.5 per cent annual growth, while New Delhi was ranked 17th with 3.9 per cent growth.

“Mumbai’s position among the top 10 global prime residential markets is significant because it comes against a more measured pace of global price growth. The city’s 6.2 per cent annual growth reflects the depth of demand at the top end of the market, where location, quality, and differentiated residential offerings continue to support values. For investors and buyers, this reinforces Mumbai’s position as a market where prime residential assets remain closely linked to long-term wealth creation and limited supply,” said Shishir Baijal, International Partner, Chairman and Managing Director, Knight Frank India.
